Naughty or Rice?
ingredients: Short grain rice (cooked) about 2 cups (short grain rice has more starch and will make this dish yummy - if you use long grain rice, it is best to cook it in the milk) Whole Milk about 2 cups (note: "about" is being used because some people like it a little more creamy or loose - the more milk you use the looser it will be) 1 TBS good quality Vanilla 1-1/2 cups Cane Sugar (you can use granulated white sugar, but Cane Sugar is preferred) 1/2 (or more!) raisins Sprinkling of cinnamon to taste
Combine rice, milk, vanilla, sugar and raisins in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until mixture comes together. Add more milk if you think it is too tight. Pour into a lovely little dish and serve warm or chill in refrigerator. Before serving, sprinkle cinnamon on top. My Grandmother would make this frequently if we had left over rice. I would imagine the recipe came from my Grandfather eating left over rice with milk and sugar in the morning. He also did this with cornbread. Being a good Texan that was a typical breakfast with a cup of hot, black coffee. Share your photos of this recipe!
